Aprender was set up by BBC member Phil Hawkins in 2002.
A visit to Brazil had shown Phil, a deputy headteacher
in a successful secondary school, that the state schools there which the poorest children attend, lack resources.
Aprender works with schools and other agencies to improve education by sharing with the teachers about best practice teaching methods and other strategies used in UK schools.
