The Whitmans - Siberia
Dave comes from Bookham and was first sent to Russia in 1988
to work with students in St Petersburg. He continued this work in Moscow
(where he met and married fellow worker Luda, a Russian),
Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk (a city of over 1 million people),
where they have lived since 2000.
In 2008, they took over as pastors of the Baptist church
in the district where they live. They remain close to the student work,
whose team leader is in their church.
Dave & Luda have two girls, Anita & Emily, and three boys Edik, Pavlik & Sasha,
born from 1997-2009.
In 2007 and 2009, teams from BBC went to Krasnoyarsk
to work with the universities, offering English clubs and conversations.
